Honoring the Magic of Puppies 🐾♥️🧚‍♂️

Puppies who don’t just live with you, but belong with you.

Raising Mini Bernedoodles and Australian Mountain Doodles with love & integrity, guided by nature.

At Brooks Haven Homestead, we are a small, family-based breeding program. As we build and grow, we are developing our breeding practices based on our values, the most up to date health information and the experience of other breeders. We specialize in taking a holistic approach to raising our dogs.

We have had many dogs as parts of our family who we loved dearly. We have finally learned, that because we didn’t pay the price, we paid the price. Our “affordable” dogs had health and temperament issues that cost us in veterinary care and behavioralist support in the long run costing not only more money to us, but also unnecessary stress for the dogs. Nobody likes to see their loved ones suffer.

This knowledge led us to the path of seeking out an “ethical breeder,” for our next 4-legged companion. Even ethical breeders have a lot of variation between programs and we couldn’t find one who checked all the boxes of our expectations, so we decided to become the breeder we wanted to work with. We value the breeders we have worked with so far, and are excited to take what they have taught us and incorporate our own flair.

Our Breeding Program- Built on a Foundation of Integrity

Brooks Haven Homestead is located in Central Oregon- with dogs in homes (ours and guardians) in surrounding areas of Bend, Sisters, La Pine, and Crooked River Ranch. We are currently in the foundation phase of our breeding program. Responsible breeding begins long before the first litter is born, with the careful selection of a breeding pair. We look for genetically sound dogs with loving dispositions. Dogs must pass health testing and reach physical and emotional maturity prior to first breeding.

Dedicated to a Holistic Approach

We have a deep respect for the importance of preventative health practices including foundational nutrition, supportive natural treatments, and pre-screening for genetic health dispositions prior to breeding. We value the gifts given by the Earth and use natural healthcare as a preventative and first line of defense, when safe to do so. All our dogs and puppies are allowed to explore indoors and outdoors, and while we train for safety and mental stimulation, they are allowed to make choices for themselves.

Our Magical Doodles 💕🐾🧚‍♂️

Our breeding dogs are first and foremost beloved family members. Each dog is thoughtfully raised, temperamentally observed, and cared for with their long-term well-being in mind.

We respect the uniqueness of all breeds of dogs. We have had everything from purebreds to who’s the daddy mutts. We love their diverse traits and when building our breeding program, carefully selected Mini Bernadoodles as the ideal, well-rounded dog for our small homestead life, as well as for urban living, due to compact size, low shedding coat, friendly personality, moderate energy level, and so much more. I will include a blog post discussing in more depth the history of Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles (the two breeds that make up the Bernadoodle.

The Homestead Raised Difference

Our homestead lifestyle supports how we raise our dogs — with space to move, daily interaction, enrichment, and exposure to real life.

Dogs spend most of their time free-ranging as part of our family, with crates and kennels used intentionally for safety, rest, and positive training. Puppies are gently introduced to household rhythms, people, and environments, helping them grow into confident, adaptable companions. While Bernadoodles are fantastic indoor companions, they also thrive outdoors. Ours have adapted to farm life and even help with pest control!

With our history of breeding registered dairy goats, we have a deep understanding of genetics and believe in breeding for quality, not quantity. The breeding parents are carefully selected based on their health structure and performance, and we monitor each generation for the successes (and failures) of the breeding pair. It is delightful to watch the carefully selected traits come to fruition in the animal’s offspring!
