Why We Chose Bernedoodles

Because my husband wanted a Husky. But he didn’t want hair shedding all over. And he didn’t want high maintenance dogs. And he didn’t want dogs that would be difficult to contain. Poodles solve the shedding issue, but knowing that I would be doing my own grooming, I was not up to the challenge of Poodle hair. So the natural choice was a Doodle!! When looking for a dog for my sister, we ended up adopting a mini Bernese for my brother and she is just stunning. Bernese Mountain Dogs are gorgeous, gentle giants.

We loved the idea of bringing together the Bernese's affectionate, people-oriented nature with the Poodle's intelligence and engaging personality. So we invested in our foundation Mini Bernese team of breeders and the rest is history in the making.

But our decision goes beyond appearance or breed traits. We wanted to build a program centered on thoughtful pairings, health-conscious breeding decisions, temperament, and raising puppies as individuals.

At Brooks Haven Homestead, our goal is to help families find a companion who fits their lives and to give every puppy a loving, intentional start.
